We are seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial and detail-oriented Finance director based in Madrid as a full-time addition to our team. The accountant will report to the CEO and work closely with the rest of the finance team in Spain and internationally.

Responsibilities
mediasmart is looking for a finance director with experience in fast-growing companies. In this position, you will manage all financial aspects of the company reporting directly to the CEO, and you will manage a multicultural team of at least three people.
We expect a high-level individual contributor who not only manages the day to day, being an exceptional accountant and hands-on with company finances but is also commercially aware, advising on the best path of growth for the business.
Below are some of the specific responsibilities we envision for the role:
- Provide leadership to the Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimize the company’s financial performance and strategic position.
- Ensure company financial reports are accurate, robust, compliant with both Spanish regulations and internal reporting standards, and support current activities and future growth. Provide detailed financial reports to group finance team and auditors for reconciliation on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Manage auditing process and relationship with the internal and external auditing firm.
- Manage the accounting team to ensure excellence in accounting practices and information granularity to enable analytical reporting, ease reconciliation processes and automate the filling of taxes.
- Provide guidance to the team to ensure all internal and external processes are as efficient as possible and automated whenever possible.
- Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management policies. Manage credit facilities to always maintain healthy cash flow. Oversee processing receivables and payables with the goal of effectively managing cash flow while maintaining a healthy relationship with customers and vendors. Relentlessly work to minimize unpaid invoices.
- Ensure all taxes required with Spanish Authorities are properly filed on time and ensure compliance with all Spanish financial regulations.
- Work with CEO to manage business forecast and budgeting processes.
- Manage company policies regarding capital requirements, debt, taxation, equity, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate. Manage relationships with banks and other entities to ensure credit facilities are available when needed and commissions are minimized.
Skills & Requirements
- Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification
- Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong, dynamic, insightful and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written, as this is the language used for interaction with most of our team members and the business language for all tools and documentation.
- Exceptional communicator at all levels.
- Comfortable with IT, must have experience working with an advanced accounting program, ideally Netsuite, and proficient using excel.
- Able to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making.
- Committed to good governance and with a high level of integrity.
- Proactive, critical thinker with a good disposition for working in teams.
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams is a plus.
